Train Derailment
At least seven people were killed and more than 200 people hurt after an Amtrak train derailed and rolled onto its side in Philadelphia Tuesday night. The train was carrying 238 passengers and five crew members.

What may have caused the train to derail? Speed.

It is believed that the train was traveling in excess of 100 mph as it approached a turn rated at 50 mph. The accident is still being investigated.

Recall
Toyota has recalled more than 8 million vehicles globally due to problem airbags, causing the passenger and front driver side airbag inflators to deploy abnormally. The recall affects 35 models globally, including Corolla, RAV3 and Tundra produced from March 2003 to November 2007.

Overnight Fire
An overnight furnace problem at a senior home in Urbandale forced residents to evacuate. Officials said one of the resident’s furnaces malfunctioned was smoking on the second floor – filling the hallways with smoke.

Car Crash
A two-vehicle car crash in Madison County killed one and injured another on Tuesday evening. Iowa State Patrol said alcohol may have been a factor in the accident.
