Stay Safe this St. Patrick’s Day

St. Patrick’s Day is known for many things — shamrocks, leprechauns, that pot of gold — but it also carries an unfortunate reputation for being one of the biggest binge drinking holidays of the year.

With St. Patrick’s Day just a few days away, The Beattie Law Firm is reminding drivers to not get behind the wheel if they have been drinking.

In Iowa, a blood alcohol concentration of .08 or more makes it unlawful to operate a motor vehicle, yet drivers still make the decision to drink and drive. The cost of this decision may be exacted in many ways from a fatality to a DUI.

Don’t become another statistic and drink responsibly on St. Patrick’s Day. Remember to:

  • Put a plan in place to safely get home
  • Designate a sober driver or have numbers for a cab ready
  • Do not get into a car with a drunk driver
  • If you feel someone is too intoxicated to drive, help make arrangements for that person to get home safely

As always, at the Beattie Law Firm your safety is our number one priority. However, if you or a loved one becomes a victim, call one of our experienced lawyers at 515-263-1000 for a free consultation.
