An early morning house fire tragically killed a mother and three children in Boone county on Sunday.

Reports say when firefighters arrived about 1 a.m., the back half of the house was fully engulfed in flames.

Extreme cold temperatures hampered efforts to fight the fire, resulting in help from 8 other fire departments.
