Sadly, another day brings another death at the hands of the railroad industry. Again, not surprisingly, at another crossing that a railroad failed to protect by lights and gates. Please see our previous postings for additional information on the earlier tragedies at crossings where there were no lights and gates. The Beattie Law Firm hopes that the victims of these tragedies take action to hold the railroads accountable. As far as we see it, the only way to force future safety advances is to ensure that the party causing the harm is made to pay an amount sufficient to give that party reason to not unnecessarily take the lives of innocent members of the public. Adequate protections and reasonable care should be the top goal of any business where life and limb are threatened by the activities of the enterprise. On the most recent tragedy, please see the article written and published by Emily Schettler.
Should any victims of these incidents wish to speak with attorneys having experience in these types of incidents, the Beattie Law Firm offers free consultations. We can be reached at 515-263-1000.
